Happy 65th birthday, Muff

Happy 65th birthday, old (and best) friend!
I wish you were still here to celebrate, I'd find a way to get something delicious sent to you, along with a wonderful book to read, as I know you enjoyed reading while you ate any given meal.

Today would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday, and I like to think you were just as gorgeous and smart, amiga.

This past year has been a really tough one, my husband died in December and then my mother died at the end of March of leukemia. There's been a lot of trouble with paperwork and social security and Medicare, but with my dear son's help, we're hopeful that there's a light at the end of the tunnel this summer.

I've also been struggling with chronic diseases and health insurance, as I've said above, but I'm not the kind to give up without a fight...there's always a work-around, something you taught me in college.

You wouldn't recognize Clarke these days, without a theater or arts programs, but they've instituted a lot of sports programs to attract guys to the college. Its a shame that a women's humanities institution has now become a place for guys to skate through actually getting an education so they can do sports and try to become professional athletes.

Anyway, I still think of you all the time, dear friend, and I will always love you dearly.

I hope you're having fun in heaven...say hi to your mum for me.

Love and hugs,
DeAnn
